Visiting Tahoe

rocks

Coming to Lake Tahoe for your Wedding is just a part of the experience.

This is why we like to share a little about this area as a Vacation and Honeymoon destination as well. From season to season there is so much to see and do. Any time of year offers a plenitude of activity and sightseeing! Here are a few example days you may enjoy while you stay here.

ski

One of my favorite Winter activities is cross-country skiing.

If you can walk then you can cross country ski and it’s a wonderful source of exercise without being to physically demanding. The Hope Valley area is especially nice with its flat open meadows and soft white snow. You could go for a half hour or for a few hours , it’s all up to you. A little tail- gate picnic is fun when the weather allows ,or you might decide to stop and enjoy a nice European style lunch in front of the fire at Sorenson's Resort nearby, as is Kirkwood for you Down- Hillers.

dixie

Changing seasons, an example Summer day might begin with a hearty breakfast at Zephyr Cove Lodge, an old Pony Express stop.

Then a morning horseback ride up to a lovely vista point overlooking the Lake. Zephyr Cove has several activities to choose from including the Ole’ Paddle Wheeler, the M.S. Dixie for a leisurely 3-1/2 hour boating excursion with meals and beverages aboard. You can sit on any of the three levels and still enjoy the panoramic views around the Lake and into Emerald Bay, one of the most photographed spots in the world!

vineyard

Another popular day trip anytime of year is a drive down into the Foothills of the El Dorado County Wine Country.

However, Fall is best! This region has been up and coming for several years now, producing some of California’s most prestigious new wines. It is a lovely hour drive from the Lake Tahoe Basin along the scenic American River, offering picnicking at Horsetail and Bridal Veil Falls and swimming holes along the way The region is full of Beautiful Vineyards and Charming Wineries meandering through lovely old country roads. This area is also famous for its apple groves and little roadside pie shops. There are wonderful festivals in the fall with the harvests of both crops. This is a very popular day, even with the locals! It is just a short 15-minute drive into the old gold mining town of Placerville. Full of fun old historic shops and history of the by gone era of the Gold Rush back in 1849.

Camp Richardson Resort and the Beacon Bar and Grill on the Lake

This is a real hot spot amongst the locals with live music out on the deck , Wild Wednesdays are the best!

Perhaps a stroll in beautiful Tahoe City.

They have some quaint little shops just along the main avenue. You may decide to indulge yourself in a leisurely rafting trip (about 1 ½ hours) or a bike ride along the lovely Truckee River out to the River Ranch Lodge, where they have a fun outdoor B.B.Q.

These are just a few ideas on what fun there is to have!

There is no need for structure, relax and enjoy the ride the course of the day is entirely up to you. No two days will ever be the same with several suggestions to choose from. You can spend several weeks and every day will be a new adventure! Prepare to create those special memories and don’t forget the Kodak moments!

hotsprings

Grover Hot Springs is just a short drive up the road for a wonderful warm medicinal soak on a snowy day.

It too, is very European in style and for a nominal fee. The views of the surrounding snow capped mountains couldn’t be more beautiful! The warm spring waters will melt you away on a cool day. It’s always special to end the fun with a wine and cheese tail gate tasting before heading home.

rocks

Pope Beach on Hwy. 89 heading around the Lake is a first stop.

Another favorite with great picnic areas and the longest stretch of Beach on the Lake. It’s a perfect spot for a Summer Wedding!

Moving ahead you will come up to Emerald Bay and wow is all I can say!

One of the most breathtaking beaches in the Tahoe area, Sand Harbor.
